About La Banne

La Banne is a hamlet in the commune of Sagelat, a small and friendly community 2.4km from the medieval village of Belvès which is rated one of France’s most beautiful villages.

Set in 7 hectares of beautiful Dordogne countryside, Domaine de La Banne is a private home and gardens offering a single chambre d’hôtes with private entrance and parking. Guests also have access to the owners’ private heated pool with designated exclusive usage times.

The Domaine

The property is divided into two distinct areas so that both guests and owners can enjoy the gardens and surrounding countryside. It is bordered by agricultural land farmed and maintained by two local farmers. With only two sets of neighbours close yet far enough away to guarantee privacy, guests can be assured of a relaxed stay. There are many birds and wildlife including deer, boar, badgers, rabbits and hares in the area which can often be seen in the gardens and surrounding fields. Having created a unique chambre d’hôtes offering guests a memorable short break or longer holiday, we have begun the process of creating another unique space for guests to enjoy. Next season will see the opening of a gite apartment with terrace balcony, summer kitchen and private garden area so take a look at our blog for regular updates on progress and opening dates.

Sustainable Living

At Domaine de La Banne, we aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible, helping to preserve this beautiful region of France through recycling and use of the on-site composting bins located in our vegetable garden. At certain times of the year we use home grown produce in our breakfast including cherries, apples, strawberries, grapes and walnuts.

The Owners

After nearly three years property searching in the Dordogne, Neil and David found La Banne in June 2017. As soon as they stepped into the gravelled courtyard they immediately fell in love with the farmhouse and its surroundings, knowing this was the place that would give them the ‘changé de vie’ they had been looking for. The converted farmhouse, barns and tranquil setting, with beautiful Belvès as a backdrop, makes La Banne a special place.

In December 2017 they moved in and began the process of settling into their new home and creating a unique chambre d’hôtes for guests to enjoy.

They take great pleasure in sharing this amazing setting with others who wish to experience its tranquil beauty, history and culture, as well as exemplary food and wine, all of which Domaine de La Banne and the Dordogne has to offer.
